Teach the language skills needed for face-to-face conversations!

The Color My Conversation program (CMC) is an engaging, multi-sensory teaching approach to help guide children through the conversation flow. Children will learn to navigate through a conversation starting at a basic greeting and working toward the most complex conversation that the child is capable of having. The holistic approach fosters development of social awareness, self-regulation, executive function, meta-cognitive and meta-linguistic skills. This curriculum-based program provides engaging interactive activities that aid children in learning how to initiate and maintain their conversations with others!

CMC is a highly dynamic program that incorporates both errorless and trial/error learning opportunities. In the initial stages of instruction, errorless teaching techniques are introduced in order to create a low stress – high success learning environment for the children. As they grow in skill and confidence, a greater measure of trial and error learning opportunities are incorporated within the lessons.

CMC provides comprehensive instruction and support for the Conversation Coach as well. Online training videos provide short vignettes that highlight key concepts from within each of the twelve lessons. An online training course offers a more thorough summary of supporting research and teaching techniques. Lastly, scripted instructions, embedded within the manual, make this program as easy for the Conversation Coach to teach as it is for the children learn.

CMC is highly adaptable! It can be implemented within a variety of settings (i.e. individual, small/large group, classroom) and can be done through either face-to-face or online instruction. Though its target group is K-7th grade, it is easily adaptable for individuals outside of this age range (i.e. Pre-K, teens, adults with disabilities). The Conversation Coach simply modifies their instructions and use of the materials to accommodate the needs of their target audience!

WHAT EDUCATORS ARE SAYING

“I was impressed with the hand’s-on, interactive and teacher-friendly curriculum…Two thumbs up!”

Dr. Anthony Smith, Superintendent – Riverview School District , WA

“All of the songs are great. I love the Yellow Conversation song! The visual and movement components are strong and effective. I think the beaded bracelet idea is a great reminder for the children. Some of my favorite things about the program are the multi sensory component, the meta cognitive modelling, parent involvement, and transfer to the natural setting. You’ve created a much needed program. It is thorough, sequential and well organized. What you’ve done is representative of good teaching, theory and methodology, as well as a practical representation of your experience and expertise. It’s great!”
